Strength & Conditioning Classes in Hanover, MD
Rising Tide Hi Tech offers a dedicated strength and conditioning class every Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Designed to complement all martial arts training offered at the gym, this one-hour session builds the functional fitness that makes you better on the mat.
If you train BJJ, Muay Thai, boxing, judo, or any combination of disciplines at Rising Tide, this class was built with your training in mind.
Built for Martial Artists
General fitness programs are not built around what martial arts actually demands of your body. Strength and conditioning at Rising Tide is different. The programming targets the physical qualities that matter most for grappling and striking: explosive power, muscular endurance, grip strength, core stability, and the capacity to stay sharp under fatigue.
You do not have to be an athlete to benefit from this class. Martial arts conditioning is about building a body that moves well and holds up over time. Students at all levels, from people in their first months of training to experienced competitors, will find the programming useful and scalable.
What to Expect in Class
Each session runs 60 minutes and is structured to be intense but manageable. Classes typically include a movement-based warm-up, a strength or power-focused block, a conditioning circuit, and a cooldown. The specific focus varies week to week to keep training balanced and prevent adaptation plateaus.
You will work with functional movement patterns relevant to martial arts: pushing, pulling, hinging, carrying, and rotational work. Equipment may include kettlebells, resistance bands, bodyweight movements, and other tools that translate directly to athletic performance on the mat. You do not need to bring specialized gear, just athletic clothing and a willingness to work.
Saturday Timing That Works
The 8:30 a.m. Saturday time slot makes it easy to build a productive weekend training block. Many Rising Tide members pair strength and conditioning with other Saturday programming, getting in a full morning of training before the rest of the day opens up.
Training consistently on the weekend also helps maintain the physical base you build during weekday martial arts classes. One hour on Saturday morning can meaningfully accelerate your progress across every discipline you train.
Open to All Rising Tide Members
Strength and conditioning at Rising Tide is open to members across all programs. You do not need to be at an advanced level in your primary martial art to participate. If you are currently training BJJ, boxing, Muay Thai, or judo at Rising Tide and want to build a stronger physical foundation, this class fits directly into your training schedule.
The gym environment is the same one you will find in every Rising Tide class: focused, respectful, and built around real progress.
