Martial Arts Near Odenton, MD — Serving the Fort Meade Community at Rising Tide Hi Tech
Odenton is a tight community built around service. Fort Meade is a defining presence here, and many residents — active duty, veterans, their families — carry a discipline and work ethic that translates well to martial arts training. Rising Tide Hi Tech in Hanover is close, serious, and built for exactly this kind of community.
We’re located at 7030 Hi Tech Drive in Hanover, just a short drive from Odenton. Whether you’re looking for kids programs, adult training, or a path back to physical and mental focus through the We Defy Foundation, we have something here for you.
We Defy Foundation: For Veterans and First Responders
Given how many veterans and first responders call Odenton home, this program deserves to be mentioned first.
Rising Tide Hi Tech is a partner of the We Defy Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides Brazilian jiu-jitsu training to veterans and first responders at no cost. The program uses BJJ — a grappling martial art that demands full mental presence and constant problem-solving — as a vehicle for physical recovery, community, and purpose after service.
The mat doesn’t care about rank, branch, or what you’ve been through. It asks you to show up, engage, and keep going. For many veterans, that structure is exactly what the transition out of service is missing.
If you served or you work in emergency services, contact us. This program is open to you.
Kids Martial Arts for Odenton Families
Military families move a lot. Martial arts is one of the few activities that travels — the skills, the vocabulary, the community are consistent no matter where your family lands next. For Odenton kids, starting BJJ or striking training here builds a foundation they’ll carry forward.
Little Sharks (Ages 5-7) introduces children to the mat with age-appropriate jiu-jitsu in a structured, high-energy class. Focus, discipline, and listening — the early habits that matter most.
Junior BJJ (Ages 7-13) teaches authentic Brazilian jiu-jitsu to older kids — drilling technique, learning positions, and sparring in a controlled environment. Kids come out of this program knowing how to stay composed when things get difficult, on and off the mat.
We also offer Kids Muay Thai and Kids Boxing for students interested in striking, and a Kids Competition Class for those ready to test their training in tournament settings.
