Shrimp Roll Youth Jiu-Jitsu Scrimmage is back to the area — and your BJJ kids athlete needs to be there! This event is brought to you by KD Events, in partnership with Rising Tide Hi Tech.
The Shrimp Roll is a low-pressure, high-rep competition day for kids bjj athletes, built for boys and girls ages 5–15 at every level. Every registration includes both Gi AND No-Gi BJJ matches, and every athlete is guaranteed multiple matches, meaning this event is perfect for first-timers to seasoned competitors.
This is a perfect, pressure-free introduction to competition. The Novice division is a positional sparring only. For all other divisions this is a submission only event.
What are the division options?
- Novice: No Submissions (Age 5-7 Only)
- Beginner: Has Competed in 0-5 Tournaments
- Intermediate: Has Competed in 5-10 Tournaments
- Advanced: Has Competed in 10+ Tournaments
What is a submission only event?
A submission only event means there are no points and no decisions. In a points tournament, points are awarded by attaining and holding positions and by submission attempts. In contrast, a submission only event like the Shrimp Roll means the winner is determined by who completes a submission. If no one wins in regulation by a submission, then the match goes to sudden death overtime. Sudden death overtime means the first to score — takedown, sweep, pass, or submission — wins.
