What age can kids start martial arts at Rising Tide Hi Tech?

Kids can start as young as 4 years old. Our Little Sharks program is designed specifically for young children and introduces them to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a safe, fun, and age-appropriate environment. It is a great first step into martial arts and builds confidence, coordination, and focus from an early age.

Do I need any martial arts experience to join?

No experience is needed at all. We offer a dedicated Beginner's BJJ course designed for people who have never trained before. You will learn the fundamentals at a comfortable pace alongside other new students before transitioning into the regular class schedule. Whether you are brand new to martial arts or coming back after a long break, there is a clear on-ramp for you here.

What martial arts programs do you offer?

We offer a full range of disciplines for all ages and skill levels. Our adult programs include BJJ (both gi and no-gi), Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA, and Judo. For kids, we have the Little Sharks program for young children and structured kids BJJ classes for older youth. We also run a dedicated 40+ Club for adult students who prefer training with peers in their age group.

Where is Rising Tide Hi Tech Martial Arts located?

We are located at 7030 Hi Tech Drive, Suite 100, Hanover, MD 21076. The gym is conveniently situated near Arundel Mills mall, making it easy to reach from Hanover, Glen Burnie, Odenton, Severn, Linthicum, and the surrounding communities throughout Anne Arundel County and Howard County.

Do you have classes for adults over 40?

Yes, we do. Our 40+ Club is a dedicated program built specifically for adult students in their 40s, 50s, and beyond. Classes are structured with longevity and sustainability in mind, so you can train hard, stay healthy, and enjoy martial arts without the wear and tear of keeping up with 20-year-olds. It is one of our most popular programs and a welcoming community of like-minded people.

What is the gi and no-gi BJJ class schedule?

Our BJJ schedule alternates between gi and no-gi training throughout the week. No-gi classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Gi classes run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. On Sundays, adults can train no-gi, while the 40+ Club has a dedicated gi session. This gives students the flexibility to train in both formats and develop a well-rounded game regardless of which nights work best for their schedule.

Nicky is a highly technical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) black belt and co-founder of the B-Team. He is known for being the youngest athlete to compete in the ADCC World Championships. Under the tutelage of John Danaher, he developed a reputation as a prodigy for his prowess in adult tournaments at a young age and for his role in the Danaher Death Squad. Ryan is a no-gi grappler, recognized for his innovative offensive game featuring unique guard systems and wrestle-up sweeps.
